Man On Wire:

With this documentary I'm not sure of my response, so it might be shorter than asked for. I did like it, it had some really cool parts. I like how he had that dream of walking the twin towers before they were even built. I also thought it was funny how they snuck into the building. How do you get so good at playing hide and seek? Ive never seen a tight rope walker so to see him do it was really interesting. His face was focused his body was balanced and his feet just glided over the rope. To me that's an art. For a second I wanted t try and be a tight rope walker, but then I remembered I'm a cults and afraid of heights. In the documentary he shows us how much he practices and how they plot to get in and hook it all up. the fact that he kept his dream so close to his heart and never gave up was really inspiring, as cheesy as it sounds. that makes him a hero. Even though it wasn't the common meaning of a hero, he still stuck to his dream and only made it real by keeping it alive like he dreamt it just that day. The reason why I'm unsure about this is that I cant focus on documentary because theres nothing that makes me want to pay attention I think I'm so use to movies with the music to tell me something important is going to happen

Nightmare Before Christmas

3.) Signature of Tim Burton.

The movie is defiantly a Burton feel threw out it. The people them selves could be gruesome and disgusting if it wasn't for his cartoony faces.Instead of gore like you would picture it after life, he has singing worms and dancing skeletons. That makes it feel happier rather than scary. With the character Sally shes constantly is loosing her self  like her limbs or eye balls. He could have embraced the bloody feel but he is known to put a spin on that. He had Sally just laugh it off and fix herself right up. Another example is when the creatures are making toys for Christmas and they would put what we would consider to be scary things in these  boxes but Burton chose to make it silly by having the gifts resemble Christmas toys. In my opinion one of the things that apple to me is how happy they look. When I think of the dead and Halloween it makes me think of sad, slow, dark, and gloomy. In the style he gives his movies its happy and cheerful, everyone is excited to be dead. So it give off a good "feel good" vibe when I watch it. I think hes very good at giving a different look at things.

Real Film

What Is A Real Film?

My idea of a real film would make me really think on the lesson or moral. If I watch something and I'm thinking about it after it end because I'm thinking how it applies in my life to me that's a film. Now a good film in my opinion would have to make me think and cry because it just got real. The best films in my opinion are usually the ones that make me cry, either because it had a dramatic ending or there was a struggle and they overcame it by chance or, a "merical" if you will. Some examples of good films that I would say would be the Pursuit of Happyness, Hotel Rwanda, and the Shaw shank Redemption. those are the only ones that come to mind, but there are at least a hundred more. So to some it up in a few sentances thats what a good film is

5.) Gender Roles

The roles for men in this movie, is to be the worker, provider, the head of the house. The women are stay at home moms, that bake all day and do daily house choirs. The stereotype is that the don't do anything but sit around all day and gossip, which is showed in the movie. Peg is different because she works for an Avon company. Even though it may not be as hard as the men's job she still leaves the home enviroment to make money, and in that town that wold be very..out of the ordinary. The movies is set in the 50's era,so I think  it is appropriate for the roles to be the way they are. I will throw in that Tim Burton probably also picked the 50's era because its one of many of his trade markes in his movies. The girls or women in his movies seem to be under minded by a power of some sort, but they always seem to be the voice of reason like sally in the nightmare before Christmas, or they bring the aw-ha, realization moment to people like peg did. She gave people in that town the question to think about am I normal or is it ok to be different.

The Prestige Assinment

3.) Dose anything good come from Bordon's obsession/commitment?

I think that Bordon is obsessed. I think this because in the movie he hurts his family to keep the secret of his twin. They go to crazy extents to keep each other hidden, for example they dress up as another man while some one is Bordon, they cut off the other twins fingers to match the others hand, they even switch each others life one day one is married and another he's not. Freddie is the cocky twin. He does very tricky and dirty things. like when Angier and him use to be partners he tries a new knot and she can't escape it, drowned...then dies. After being told not to do it he still tries. Alfred is the "safe" twin. He is the smart one. I think he's the better twin because he thinks of all the outcomes before doing something and in the movie I got the impression he has to think for the both of them sometimes. ven though a lot goes on there is a positive out come. When Bordon is jailed it is Freddie the one caught and in jail. He is killed, but the up side to that for me to look at is Alfread gets to live and raise his daughter like he should.(223)

    Singing in the Rain

    4.) What is the message?

I think there are multiple messages you can take away from this movie. The first one that I got was don't judge a book by it's cover. I think this because in the beginning the two friends started off as two little poor boys  dancing in a bar. No one gave them the time of day. They kept their dream out and became a small second man and music player for a western movie. Don then pursued a better movie rolls and became a actor with his own name, as his friend became a music player right by his side.  Another message I got out of the movie is "Bad guys finish last". When Lina Lamont used Kathy Seldom's as her voice, it showed Lina had no actual talent just a pretty face. Kathy hide behind the curtain to sing for Lina but Don and Cosmo pulled the curtain up to show Lina was a fraud and to let Kathy shine.

    Proof Assiment

    Hal and Cathrine's relationship:

Hal wants to form a relationship with Cathrine, but she pushes him away at the beginning because shes' too into her work and she sort of thinks little of him because he just reads her dad's work instead of actually doing the work, and to her that's not much of a mathematician. She warms up to Hal in the middle of the movie spending time with him, telling him about how her dad taught her most of what she knows. Then he deceive her in the part of the movie when her sister says Cathrine doesn't write the proof, Cathrine goes to Hal to prove that she did, to look at the writing but he doesn't defend her. At that time in the movie, I felt like she really gave up on liking him because that was her life's goal it seemed to write the proof and he basically took her dreams and stepped all over it. That to me seems a little fishy, but at the end he took effort to show her it is her writing because the formulas she used were new formulas that her father couldnt have known how to do. In my opinion he was always intrested in her but things got cloudy.

    The Sorcerers's Apprentice

I think that The Sorcerer's Apprentice was a pretty good movie. I think it's a movie. why I think it's a movie is because I didn't have to search for a meaning or in a simpler way, I didnt have to think very hard to understand. I was more entertained by the acting. I just feel like there was a meaning but it wasn't really hiden it was more out there. Movies like that to me, aren't really films.

    Arenda's Dark Knight Review

I think that the lieing of the good guys is important. I think that if the good guys are lieing then how do we really know who is telling the truth if the good lie. I think movies can be very biase, for example when the joker lies people look down apon him.when Bruce lies about his identity its like hey he saves the city who cares? In my opinion Batman's lies should be treated the same as the Joker's. I think this because I personally don't like to base my judgment on who the person is but what the lie is. when I compair the two major lies, Batman's lie is more of a sevire than the Joker's.

My name is Arenda. I'm a senior, that will be graduating at semester. When I graduate I want to go into cosmotology school. I want to ultimately want to have a franchize of salons. that means I have to go back to beauty school to learn all trades, such as hair, nails, make-up, waxing, skin. after I learn those I need to learn how to run and make a sucessful business. That might be a struggle for me since I'm not very good with math. I will do my best to understand it.
